St. Alphonsus Cares is an Outreach Program offered by St. Alphonsus Parish serving Downtown Windsor

We offer free programs and events to anyone and everyone who lives in Downtown Windsor. Supported by volunteers, we aim to partner with others in the city to bring a variety of community building programs that help to make Downtown Windsor more compassionate.

Our Core Values Are:

• St. Alphonsus Cares is a space where people are invited to stay and belong, and does not exist solely to connect people to other services.

• St. Alphonsus Cares is the Outreach Program of St. Alphonsus Parish, and therefore, all programs and events are suitable for Catholics, but not solely “faith-based” and are open to everyone.

Programs and Information

Weekly Programming

• Monday: Bingo from 1:00pm to 3:00pm
• Tuesday: Exercise with Darrin at 1:00
• Wednesday: Hang Out Hub from 12:00pm to 2:30pm
• Friday:  Community Meal from 5:00pm to 6:00pm (Doors open at 4:00)

Groups

• Men’s Group: A social support group for anyone looking for a place to hang out, chat, and be with friends. Tuesdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm (every other week, Contact Sister Connie for dates)
• Women’s Group: A social support group for women to chat with other women about whatever is on your mind.  (every other week, Contact Sister Connie for dates)

Upcoming Events

• Tuesday, January 20th – Lunch and Learn is back.  Join the WECHU as they help us Map Out Our Health.  Lunch will be at 12:15 and the learning will happen around 1:00pm.  Please let Sr. Connie know whether you will be joining so that we have enough food for everyone who would like to be there-charrington@dol.ca.
• We are looking for volunteers for a once weekly early morning breakfast hand out.  St. Alphonsus Cares received grant money to do a breakfast program for those in need.  Now, we need to put a group together to prepare and serve.  It is in its infancy stages so if you think you may have time one morning a week and would like to help, please contact Sr. Connie- charrington@dol.ca.

Birthday Bank

• 🎈We have a BIRTHDAY🎉🎉🎉BANK… If you are having a tough time purchasing a gift for your child or grandchild, we can help.  We have mostly NEW items and some gently used items.  These items (1 large or 2 small) are available to you.  We just need to see proof of the birth date.  The birthday has to be within the month in order to take advantage of the BIRTHDAY🎁 BANK.
